Internal and external benchmarking of feedlot cattle performance and operational efficiency is essential to understand opportunities for improvement in operational efficiency and profitability. All benchmarking data is strictly confidential. Benchmarking is broken into the following categories:
a. Closeout benchmarking: identifies cattle performance differences across regions, seasons, market categories, initial weights, grain processing types, breeds and sex.
b. Feed intake benchmarking: identifies how consistent bunk management is at an individual feedlot and potential for improvements in energy intakes of cattle relative to benchmark standards.
c. Operational benchmarking: determines overhead costs and operational efficiency of feeding and milling sectors in the feedlot.
